Practice FAQs

  • We provide house call services in Westchester County NY, Fairfield County CT, and NYC-Manhattan/Queens/Bronx/Brooklyn. Medical encounters outside of these areas can be considered on a case-by-case basis. We also provide services at your workplace or hotel if necessary.

  • Visits are not covered by insurance and are directly billed to you on the day of your visit. We will provide you with a billing agreement prior to your visit.

  • During a house call visit, we offer primary care services, urgent care, preventive care, chronic disease management, minor procedures, and more. Please refer to this list for additional details.

  • Upon booking, Dr. Miguel will review your scheduling preferences and provide clear and reliable appointment expectations. He will notify you immediately if any delays are expected and will send a text message when he is en-route with an ETA. As we intentionally keep our bookings limited, we expect to adhere to our booking times.

  • New patients will communicate directly with Dr. Miguel or self-schedule online during the enrollment process. Existing patients can self-schedule on our website or contact Dr. Miguel to schedule.

  • Although Dr. Miguel can provide most services obtained from your local primary care physician or concierge doctor, his service does not fully eliminate the need for your office-based doctor. As Dr. Miguel is a solo-provider, there may be times when he is away, unavailable, or booked. We recommend patients maintain their existing PCP relationships and utilize Dr. Miguel to supplement their care with enhanced access and convenience. Dr. Miguel is happy to work along side your team of doctors.

    • Convenience: a physician visit to the home or office can minimize time away from work for busy professionals. Evening and weekend hours add to this convenience

    • Homebound patients whereby traveling to a clinic is overly burdensome

    • Comfort: receive care in the comfort of your home, which is ideal for those who are averse to visiting medical facilities

    • Visitors from out-of-town can quickly establish care and receive timely care in the absence of having established relationships with physicians

    • Back-up care: have a backup physician in case your primary care doctor is unavailable

    • Collaborative care: Dr. Miguel can provide a hands on examination and relay his findings/recommendations to your PCP when an office visit isn’t feasible or practical

    • Personalized care: Dr. Miguel will have more time to spend with each patient, allowing for more thorough and personalized care tailored to your needs

    • Reduced Exposure to illness: avoiding crowding clinical settings can reduce exposure risk, especially for those with weakened immune systems.

    • Post-Surgical Care: Patients recovering from surgery may prefer house calls for follow-up visits to avoid the discomfort and risk of traveling while healing.

    • Palliative and End-of-Life Care: Patients receiving palliative care or those at the end of life often prefer to remain at home, where they are most comfortable, surrounded by family.

    • Privacy: Some individuals may prefer the privacy of their home for medical consultations, especially for sensitive or personal health issues.

    • Continuity of Care: House call physicians can observe the patient's living environment and family dynamics, providing insights that can lead to better overall care and health outcomes.

    • Avoidance of Hospitalization: For some conditions, receiving timely and appropriate care at home can prevent the need for hospitalization, reducing both the physical and financial burdens associated with hospital stays.

    • Luxury and Exclusivity: Some individuals may prefer the exclusivity and personalized service of a house call physician as part of a luxury lifestyle.

    • Cost Efficiency: Fee-for-service house calls can sometimes be more cost-effective than concierge medicine memberships, especially when considering the overall quality and time spent with the physician.

    • Flexibility: House call physicians often offer more flexible scheduling options, accommodating the patient's availability and reducing the need to take time off work or other commitments.
